Race Description:
Bigger and better!! The Laufvergnügen (German Fun Run) is Back!
Laufvergnügen is German for Fun Run! Old Dominion Racing, is excited to give you a great Octoberfest experience. Come run, and have a near beer (race is on NPS property, so real beer won't be permitted) and some pretzels and brats!
This race will start and end at Fletcher's Cove, Washington D.C. and will go down and back the C&O Canal Tow Path. Where food and (near) beer will be waiting for you.
When:
This year the Laufvergnügen is on Saturday, September 28th, 2024.
Race Times:
Laufvergnugen Half - 1pm — 3hour limit
10k - 2pm — 2 hour limit
5k - 2:30pm — 1.5 hour limit

All participants get a commemorative shirt

Girl Scout cookies, snacks, Gatorade and water
You will be welcome to leave personal items at the Start/Finish area (coat check style).

Race Details:
Start/finish is on the C&O canal tow path at Fletcher’s Boat house (Google Maps Link).
Waterstands for the Half Marathon will be at the following distances: 1.55Mi, 3.1Mi, 6.55Mi (Half Turnaround), 9.65Mi, 11.55Mi. 5k and 10k water stands will be placed in respect to the above distances for their race.
We will be providing bottled water/gatorade and energy snacks at the water stands.
Bathrooms will be provided at the start/finish area (and along the route as provided by the park).
Packet Pickup:
Packet pickup will be on race day from 10:30am until your event starts at the race start.
Parking:
Parking can be found at the Start/Finish area (Fletcher’s Boat House, indicated in ORANGE). To get to the Western section you must cross under the Canal and go through the tunnel (only compact/short vehicles should attempt this).
Parking can also be found at Reservoir Road (you will have to walk down the hill to Fletcher’s Cove).
Special Notes:
Please note that we will require picture identification for adults in order for participants to receive their race packet (no id = no run). Participants 17 and under don't need to show an ID if they are accompanied by an adult who has a valid ID.
Race Map:
All routes depicted are the general path that the race will take. Due to technical restrictions from the mapping service, the distances reflected may not be calculated correctly by the mapping service. ODR will, however, measure and provide an enjoyable and accurate route.
